Recently, we had a story to tell. It’s about a rescue dog named Jordy, and a young man who was prepared to give his life in service to his country.
Enter Young Diggers. A support organisation for ex-servicemen and women, helping them with information, assistance and education. And one of the services they offer these brave men and women is the Young Digger Dog Squad. Rescue dogs who meet certain criteria are taken in and paired up with a Digger, and then enter a two year training program with their Digger, learning skills such as fetching, turning on and off light switches, dealing with panic attacks, whatever their digger needs from them. But they are also a family pet, there to be loved and cherished.
One video of Jordy sent, an acceptance email received, and a plane ticket was booked. He left on the first flight in the morning, heading to NSW, where he met his Digger, a young man who sacrificed his health so he could serve in the Australian Army. He also met his Digger’s family, which is now Jordy’s family, consisting of a partner and two small children, who are having a ball climbing all over Jordy when he’s not helping Dad.
CQ Pet Rescue are delighted that Jordy has not only found his Forever family, but in doing so will help an ex-serviceman who needs a mate to look out for him and be by his side for the years to come.
Congratulations as you settle into your wonderful new life Jordy; you deserve your happy ending.
